When you are in the thick of raising 4 very small children, it seems, in your mind, that there will ALWAYS be babies in the house. It’s just hard to imagine life any other way. Even though we’ve been ‘diaper free’ in this house for over two years… it just seems that this birthday is a big deal… with Captain Crazy’s rise to FOUR this week, we no longer have anything even resembling a baby in this household (not that we did at ’3′ either… but 4 seems like a bigger deal)! It’s very exciting and very sad at the same time. Our youngest is now a preschooler… just.. wow. He was so excited to start school on his actual birthday this year! He is four (wishing he was 5) and he is ready to take on the world. The first thing on his ‘big boy’ bucket list? A campout
We feel so blessed to have this little guy in our lives. He brings so much life & vivacity wherever he goes. He is enthusiastic (dramatic) about anything he decides to tackle, and has a general fearlessness that both inspires and terrifies us! I love his intelligence and spirit, and most of the time I am looking on with admiration. I can’t wait to see what God has for this boy!
As is our family tradition, I took him outside for a few morning pictures to commemorate the passing of his 3′s and the dawning of his ‘big boy’ years! He cooperated… mostly due to the fact that Daddy bought gluten-free Jo-Jo’s (please visit Trader Joe’s for these amazing treats that look & taste like oreos, but without the chemical yuck) and I could use them as a bribery tool. True to form though, he slipped in and out of ‘protest mode’ and didn’t give me all smiles (see below). That’s ok… we want to remember these years just as they are! Enjoy the many faces of Captain Crazy …
Happy Birthday Bode man! We love you
